Clay Watson, born in Okinawa, Japan, is a multi-instrumentalist most known
for his prowess on the trombone. Born in Okinawa, Japan, he moved to
Orlando, Florida in 1972 and there he grew to become one of the city's
most well-known and loved musicians on the forefront of the city's music
scene since the early 90's. He is also currently one of the hardest
working artists in town performing with regionally touring acts like The
Legendary JC's (retro-Soul, Funk) and Paddington Ambush (Ska, Reggae),
both of which he is a founding member.
The Legendary JC's have been one of the hottest acts touring the Southeast
with their legendary Southern Soul Revue since 2002 and have performed at
many of the major music festivals from Miami to Atlanta and New Orleans
including Langerado, Voodoo Fest, Bear Creek, Springing the Blues Fest,
Leaf Festival, Florida Music Festival, Millidgeville BBQ Fest, Atlanta
Blues Fest, Purple Hatters Ball, Suwannee Flood Jam, Orange Blossom
Jamboree, WMNF Tropical Heatwave and more.
Watson has been the consummate Artist-At-Large in Orlando for decades and
has performed with many amazing artists throughout the years including the
Sam Rivers Rivbea Orchestra, Dumpstaphunk, The New Mastersounds, JJ Grey
& MOFRO, Everyone Orchestra, The Lee Boys, Steve Kimock, Jeff Coffin,
Roosevelt Collier, Bernie Worrell, COPE, Savi Fernandez Band, funkUs,
Beebs & Her Moneymakers, The Funky Presidents, UMOJA, Thomas Wynn & the
Believers, Big Shirley and so many others.
He has also recorded with numerous bands and can be found on the following
